Research and Clinical Awards – For Abstracts
Purpose
These awards are intended to support graduate students in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Two awards are offered each year. One award is given to a student for the best Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology research poster and another award is given to a student for the best poster on a clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology topic.
Award
Each award includes a certificate.
Eligibility Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology graduate program at the time of receiving the Award
- Member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the time of Abstract Submission
- Indication on the Abstract Submission Form that the applicant is interested in participating in the competition.
- Abstract Acceptance
Selection Criteria
Selection of the Research and Clinical Award recipients will be determined and announced at the AAOMR Annual Session. Competing applicants are expected to give a five minute presentation of their poster in the presence of 2-3 members of the Awards Committee. The presentation will be followed by a five minute question and answer session.
For Clinical awards following criteria are considered
- Significance and originality of the clinical topic
- Documentation of pertinent information
- Quality of the poster and clarity of the presentation
For Research awards following criteria are considered
- Significance and originality of the research topic
- Research design
- Data presentation and analysis
- Quality of the poster and clarity of the presentation
